How JMF Insurance Agency is Compensated
JMF Insurance Agency receives its' compensation directly from the insurance carriers in the form of commissions. We do not charge our clients for services rendered. Our compensation is determined by the contract that we have in place with each of the carriers. In some cases we may receive bonuses from carriers based on the amount of premium inforced and persistency.
We have an obligation to represent our client's best interest. We are committed to meeting this obligation, and are committed to designing and recommending insurance policies without regard for compensation.
When you think of insurance, we have all heard of State Farm, Allstate, American Family, Farmers, and Country Financial. These are all insurance carriers. When you walk into one of the offices, you are actually walking into the office of a "Insurance Agency". The insurance agency has a contractual relationship with the insurance carrier. That relationship can either be exclusive, first right of refusal, or non-exclusive. State Farm, Allstate, American Family, and Country Financial maintain exclusive contracts with their agencies. This means those agencies can only sell that particular carrier's product. Whether that specific policy is the best or not, that is all they have to offer. They may have a brokerage division to handle the impaired risk, or hard to place cases, but outside of that an Agent with one of these carriers is not allowed to offer a competing insurance carrier's product. As an agent, if they want to make a living, they have to sell you what they have to offer.
JMF Insurance Agency, has non-exclusive contracts with our carriers. Meaning, that we are able to offer our clients the best policies available. We are not forced to offer any specific insurance carrier. Therefore, we are able to be impartial. It also means that we are the insurance carrier's client, they have to earn our business, by developing strong products, maintaining competitive rates, and offering top service to our clients. For example, if a specific carrier increases their rates for a product, we have the ability to provide our clients with an alternative, without having to change the parameters of the product.
